Sydney investors build Newcastle granny flat

The owners are a young family from Sydney who were looking to maximise their property investment by building a granny flat. They had very specific requirements as the land is in a flood zone, meaning the building had to be built to a certain height.
We created a purpose 2-bedroom granny flat design which maximised the shape of the block and met the flood requirement. The result was a stunning L-shape design with a hip roof and one feature gable end. The roof is Colorbond and the exterior walls are clad with Weathetex, with the colours chosen to suit a coastal area. The design also includes a front veranda and quality painted timber balustrade which adds real character and a useful extension of the living space for tenants.
This block was also a little different as it was fenced off down the middle, as the granny flat has its own street frontage. This makes it look like it is separate to the house on the property, a selling factor for potential tenants.
