Retiring to a Long Jetty granny flat meant more flexibility and choice for Sydney couple
George and Helen are just one example of a growing trend of retirees looking to escape the rat-race of Sydney and relocate to a designer granny flat in their chosen destination at Long Jetty.
“Living longer has taught us that minimum upkeep, increased choice and living in one of Australia’s great lifestyle locations is the dream!”
Tired of battling the fast pace life of Sydney, the couple built an affordable, designer granny flat in their favourite seaside location, Long Jetty on the Central Coast. It has allowed them to see out their golden years with minimum fuss.
They were looking for a solution that offered the perks of modern architecture and features to complement their lifestyle. But they also wanted to minimise the time they spend on cleaning and maintaining their new abode.
Like most of us, they wanted to get more out of their day!
So they decided to build our best-selling Allambie granny flat design.
Living happily in retirement: the perks of building a Long Jetty granny flat for your golden years
Making the move into retirement can be exciting, yet overwhelming. With reduced income to consider and the desire to spend more time doing the things you love over cleaning the kitchen, for many seniors building a granny flat in their favourite location makes sense. George and Helen built our Allambie design in Long Jetty before leaving their Sydney careers behind. They treated their new Central Coast granny flat like a holiday home. It offered a weekend escape from the chaos of the busy inner Sydney streets. This made the progression into retirement easy for them.
Many homeowners love the Allambie floorplan as it is! George and Helen chose small customisations to the design to cater to the way they wanted to live. (Here’s seven things you need to know about building a granny flat like George and Helen’s).
The generous two-bedroom Allambie offers an ideal granny flat solution for downsizers
Stylishly appointed throughout, George and Helen’s new home design and interior perfectly caters to the seaside lifestyle in Long Jetty. The generous alfresco offers an inviting entertaining space cooled by the sea breeze from Long Jetty foreshore and Blue Bay. This design also has the additional features of an entry patio with concrete steps. This was built with an aluminium handrail to ensure safety now and into the future.
The open plan living/dining space offers plenty of room for meals with the family. The kitchen offers modern features with little upkeep required. Two generous bedrooms, additional Hume Smart Robes installation, matt black features and recessed shaving cabinet in the bathroom compliment a home that is designed to make everyday feel seamless and special.
The home was completed in just 13 weeks. George and Helen love how it perfectly matches the airy atmosphere of Long Jetty’s coastal fringes.
The couple discovered renewed freedom in their Long Jetty granny flat
The appeal of a modern granny flat is often as philosophical as it is practical to downsizers. With the kids out of the house, the clutter and days spent cleaning larger family homes can become too much.
For couples like George and Helen, choosing other priorities – from travel to cooking to bowls – means they’d prefer to spend their valuable time and newfound money on enjoying themselves. They were fortunate enough to reduce their living expenses through their new Long Jetty granny flat. Plus they boosted their income by treating their old family home as an investment.
With a range of granny flat designs available and the ability to make adjustments to suit your way of life, building a Backyard Grannys design offers renewed freedom and flexibility for families and retirees alike.
