These Cardiff South residents already had a granny flat in their backyard when they made the decision to invest in a second build only two doors down. It all began when Josh and Courtney decided to build the first granny flat right behind their home at 14 Crockett St. Residing in the front house with their younger children, this Cardiff couple now rent that extra living space in the backyard to their not-so-little kids.

Once inside, this two-bedroom granny flat continues to impress with a generous, open-plan living and dining area. But our favourite feature has to be the kitchen: complete with matte laminate marble benchtops and brushed nickel door handles, it looks just as fantastic as it functions. With a built-in electric oven and electric cooktop for all your cooking needs, this space was designed with both style and utility in mind.

Leading off the living area are two spacious bedrooms with mirrored sliding wardrobes and ash grey berber grid carpet. Additionally, you’ll find a bright bathroom/laundry room with glossy tiles, chrome tapware and a silver shower screen to compliment the home’s modern feel.

After such a successful first build, Josh and Courtney were keen to get another granny flat off the ground. But this time, it would be all business.

For their second project with Backyard Grannys, Josh and Courtney chose our beautiful two-bedroom Elanora design. Comfortable yet cost-effective, this spacious built-to-rent property is pretty much an ideal investment property.

Getting in on the granny flat action

Another set of Cardiff South residents, James and his brother live just down the road from Josh and Courtney. After watching how well their neighbours were getting on with their granny flat investment venture, the duo decided to build a rental property of their own!

Ready to take on a fresh new project after renovating the front house, James was looking for a convenient, effective way to make some extra income in his backyard. And that’s just what he got!

The third granny flat we’ve constructed on Crockett St., James’ two-bedroom design makes the most of its rear street access. Allowing for a concrete driveway with off-street parking to be placed next to the entrance, this smart set up brought the build’s rental appeal to the next level!
