FAQs
What is the minimum size my block needs to be to meet CDC rules?
In most cases, you’ll need at least 450 square metres and an existing main house to build a granny flat. There are also standard setback rules – usually 3 metres from the back fence and 900mm from the sides. That said, under some approval pathways, you might be able to build on a smaller block if council gives the green light.
We recommend for you to read our ‘No Council Approval’ page for further details on other minimum criteria.
